Macalla Cholmcille

In this short film, ‘Colmcille’s Echo’, we get a different view of the famous saint, looking at him as an artist and visionary.

He used the arts to spread the word of Christianity and to inspire the people’s imagination at the same time. He was born when Christianity was just putting down roots 1500 years ago. He was determined to entice people to the new faith but was also aware that he needed to build a bridge to the old pagan beliefs. In this film we get an insight into how he made sure that worship for the Mother Goddess was kept in the new faith. There’s also a chance that he had an understanding of druidic knowledge and that he did his best to keep these and other pearls of wisdom intact for the generations that came afterwards.
